Grassroots work to #ENDFGM in The Gambia – Lisa Camara #SoroptimistSix

Soroptimist International is delighted to introduce you to Mam Lisa Camara, one of our SI Road to Equality #SoroptimistSix. So vital on our Road to Equality – your support of the President’s Appeal, 2019-2021 will empower Lisa and others in their work within their own countries at the grassroots level, to End Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Child Marriage.

A professional and dedicated human rights activist at both community and national levels, Mam Lisa Camara has extensive experience in community development and women’s and children’s rights programming in The Gambia. Her expertise in the areas of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and child marriage is drawn on by national and international organisations and governments, and she combines high-level advocacy with grassroots campaigning. This enables her to remain engaged with the reality, and the lived experiences of girls and women in their own communities.

Mam Lisa is also a trained First Aider, a Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards holder with the Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award and she has co-established and worked with numerous children, youth and women’s rights organizations over the years including that of Programs Manager for Safe Hands for Girls in The Gambia.

Please donate through your Soroptimist federation to the SI Road to Equality Appeal 29019-2021 to support Lisa and the other five youth activists in their work to #EndFGM
