SI President's Message on world toilet day. This year World Toilet Day focuses on wastewater, continuing the theme of World Water Day. Inspiring action to tackle the global sanitation crisis, this annual event is an important day on the Soroptimist calendar.
Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly declared this a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and amongst all nations and peoples. The theme for International Day of Peace 2018 is “The Right to Peace – The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70”.
June 20 is World Refugee Day. Soroptimists must stand with refugees, particularly with women and girls who suffer more than others from poverty, lack of clean water and food, no access to education and healthcare, no way to earn an income, and gender-based violence.
