Soroptimist International Foundation: The Kori Project

The Kori Development Project Ltd, in partnership with Soroptimist International Foundation, is building three classrooms and a toilet block at Bob Simson Technical Secondary School in Kori Chiefdom, Sierra Leone. This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 6 by improving access to quality education and sanitation, especially for girls. The project includes a well to reduce time spent collecting water and ensures girls can stay in school during menstruation by providing toilets and menstrual hygiene support. Set to finish in early 2025, it aims to boost girls’ school attendance, literacy, and future opportunities through secondary and vocational education. Soroptimist International Foundation is contributing £4,000 to help complete the project and improve outcomes for girls. Ultimately, the initiative works to close the gender education gap, reduce period poverty, and empower girls to shape their futures.
