At its core, ‘Restore a Sense of I Can’ offers structured digital literacy training tailored to local contexts and needs. Participants gain foundational skills such as using computers and mobile devices, navigating the internet safely and accessing online information and services. These skills are not just practical—they’re transformative, opening up opportunities for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and personal empowerment.
To ensure the project’s long-term impact and sustainability, a ‘train the trainer’ element is built into the programme. Women and girls who have successfully completed the training are supported to become trainers themselves, multiplying the reach of the project and embedding a sense of leadership and ownership in local communities. This peer-to-peer approach not only extends the benefits to more participants but also builds a community of digitally empowered women supporting each other.
The ‘Restore a Sense of I Can’ project embodies Soroptimist International’s commitment to gender equality and education as a pathway to empowerment. By restoring digital confidence and building practical skills, the programme enables women and girls to say “I can” in the face of digital exclusion. It is a powerful example of how grassroots action, when supported by global solidarity, can drive systemic change and foster inclusion in the digital era.
