The International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on 11 October, was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011 to recognise the unique challenges girls face around the world and to promote their rights and empowerment. Soroptimist International marks this important day by highlighting and showcasing its global efforts to support girls through education, mentoring, advocacy and grassroot projects that empower them to reach their full potential.
