Featured SI Club Projects
Soroptimist International showcases projects by clubs to highlight their impactful work, inspire others, and promote best practices across the global network. By featuring these projects on its website, social media, and publications, Soroptimist International raises awareness of key issues and celebrates the positive change driven by its members. Certificates of recognition are awarded to honour a Club’s efforts, acknowledge their contributions, and encourage continued excellence in service and advocacy.

SI Metz, France
SI Metz received a certificate for submitting a video clip about their Verdun project, an initiative dedicated to promoting forestry. The video clip was included in the global compilation environment movie ‘Soroptimist Action: Improving our Environment’.
On 29 November, SI Metz hosted a meeting of Club Presidents from SI France. The certificate was printed in large format and prominently displayed at the event. It was also showcased at a cocktail reception at the Town Hall on 28 November, and again in the General Assembly hall of the Regional Council of Lorraine on 29 November.
The Verdun project has resulted in the planting of 11,000 fir trees to honour Suzanne Noël, Founder and Past President of SIE. It pays tribute both to Madame Noël’s extraordinary service during World War I and to the many women of the war whose contributions have largely been forgotten. Verdun, known as the site of one of World War I’s longest and bloodiest battles, is now a place where nature is regenerating.
SI Agadir, Morocco
At the 3rd SI Africa Federation Conference & AGM in early May 2025, which took place at Agadir, Morocco, SI Club of Kisumu, Kenya was proudly recognised for its work under Soroptimist International’s key focus of education. This honour celebrates the Club’s commitment to empowering women and girls through education, mentorship, and opportunity.
The Certificate of Recognition—personally signed by SI President Siew Yong Gnanalingam—was presented by SIGBI President Ruth Healey and warmly received by Dolphine Anyango, Immediate Past President and Chair of the Club’s Scholarship and Mentorship Committee.
This outstanding achievement was also featured on the Soroptimist International website as part of our spotlight on education initiatives for the International Day of Education 2025 under the theme of Lifelong Learning. Soroptimist International awards certificates to Clubs whose work is highlighted on our website, social media platforms and our publications, honouring their contribution to our shared mission.
SI Club Kisumu in Kenya champions education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), empowering young women to pursue careers in these vital fields. Among the students supported are those studying Microbiology and Molecular Biology, Clinical Medicine and Industrial Chemistry. One graduate in Computer Science is now giving back to her community as a Soroptimist. Through this support, the Club is helping shape the next generation of women leaders in science and technology.
SI Canterbury, UK
SI Club Canterbury has been working with the RISING SUN refuge and the staff who work there. One Club member worked with the refuge staff to run a pizza making master class. Recipients of this support are learning to cook healthy meals, which helps them in living independently.
