Soroptimist International is inviting applications for the volunteer leadership position of Director of Soroptimist International Foundation, for the term 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028.
This is an important opportunity for an experienced Soroptimist to help guide the Foundation at a significant stage in its development. The Director will provide strategic leadership and oversight across the Foundation’s fundraising, donor engagement and grant-making activities, while helping to ensure that funds are distributed transparently, responsibly and in support of measurable impact.
The successful candidate will oversee fundraising campaigns and relationships with donors, partners and sponsors; support the evaluation and monitoring of funded projects; and report on the Foundation’s activities, finances and outcomes to the SI Board and other stakeholders. They will also work closely with the Soroptimist International Foundation Committee Chair, SI Directors and committee members to ensure that the Foundation’s activities remain aligned with Soroptimist International’s mission and strategic direction.
The appointment comes as the Foundation develops its long-term focus on women’s health under the theme “Her Health: Our Future.” This direction brings together fundraising, advocacy and practical projects addressing the health needs of women and girls across Soroptimist International’s five Federations. The Foundation will also support SI’s developing work on Gender Medicine, which aims to raise awareness of how sex and gender can influence medical research, diagnosis and treatment.
Who are we looking for?
Applicants should bring proven experience in fundraising, donor relations or philanthropy, together with a strong understanding of nonprofit financial management and grant processes. They should be able to evaluate project proposals, monitor progress and assess outcomes, while providing clear strategic guidance to the Foundation Committee.
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to interpret and communicate financial and operational information clearly. Practical English language proficiency at B2 level or above is required.
Above all, Soroptimist International is seeking someone who demonstrates integrity, accountability and a strong commitment to ethical leadership. The successful candidate should value inclusivity, cultural sensitivity and diversity, and be ready to champion Soroptimist International’s mission, vision and values globally.
The Director will also become a member of the Board of SI (Soroptimist International) Limited, sharing collective responsibility for the leadership, management, decisions and legal compliance of the organisation.
