SI President Renata Trottmann Probst and Director Cathy Cottridge are delighted to announce that following the successful launch of SI’s Women’s Health Focus Theme at the AGM, the SI Board is now inviting applications from Soroptimists to join the Working Group that will lead the development of our first international awareness campaign on Gender Medicine.
Gender Medicine is an emerging field that examines how biological sex and gender influence health, disease, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Although the discipline has developed significantly over the past three decades, it remains largely unknown outside specialist circles. Our first task will therefore be to help members and the wider public understand why Gender Medicine matters and why greater awareness can contribute to better health outcomes for women and girls. Working together, we will develop an evidence-based campaign, globally relevant and sufficiently flexible to resonate across different healthcare systems, cultures and local priorities.
We are seeking a diverse range of experience and perspectives. While Soroptimist members with backgrounds in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health, research, academia, advocacy or communications are particularly encouraged to apply, enthusiasm for the campaign and a willingness to contribute actively are equally important. Terms of Reference for the group can be viewed here. Details of how to apply and the closing date for applications can be found in the Call for Members document.
