Welcome to this edition of Global Voice, bringing together recent updates from across Soroptimist International’s global advocacy, leadership and communications work.

Over the past two months, SI has continued to look ahead whilst also sharing the ongoing work of Soroptimists, SI Representatives and contributors around the world. In this edition, we are pleased to highlight the launch of the official SI Convention 2027 website, inviting Soroptimists, friends and partners to begin exploring what lies ahead in Prague.

We also share the announcement of Theresa Lyford as SI President Elect 2026-2027, SI’s latest statement on the defunding of women’s rights at the United Nations, and recent blogs and reflections from across our global advocacy spaces.

SI Convention 2027 Website Now Live

The official website for the 23rd Soroptimist International Convention 2027 is now live.

Taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, from 29 September to 01 October 2027, the Convention will bring Soroptimists, friends and partners together under the theme Stronger Together: For All Women and Girls.

The website provides an introduction to the Convention programme, themes and global participation, alongside welcome messages, travel and accommodation information and details about Prague and the Czech Republic.

Soroptimists are encouraged to explore the website and pre-register their interest in attending. By pre-registering, you can make sure you receive updates and the latest information and news about when delegate registration will open for that all-important Early Bird date!

Theresa Lyford Announced as SI President Elect 2026-2027

Soroptimist International is pleased to announce Theresa Lyford as SI President Elect.

This announcement marks an important moment for Soroptimist International as we look ahead to the next stage of SI leadership and the continued work of our global movement.

We warmly congratulate Theresa and look forward to sharing more as she prepares to take on this role.

Upcoming Advocacy Engagement: SI at WSIS and AI for Good 2026

In July, Soroptimist International will be represented across three major UN spaces in Geneva: the WSIS Forum 2026, the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, and the AI for Good Global Summit.

SI Representatives, members and nominated experts will contribute to discussions on AI governance, digital safety, gender equality, women’s leadership in technology and safe digital futures for women and girls.

SI’s involvement includes participation in panels, roundtables, workshops and high-level discussions, as well as contributions to initiatives recognising women’s expertise in technology, policy and development.

World Health Day 2026: Global Health Begins With Local Care

For World Health Day 2026, Soroptimist International showcased club projects from all five SI Federations, highlighting local action to improve the health and wellbeing of women and girls.

The featured projects covered areas including health education, preventative care, screening, reproductive health, mental health and support for women facing isolation or displacement.

Together, they show how community-based action can help women and girls access care, understand their health and build healthier communities.

Over the past two months, SI Representatives and contributors have continued to share reflections, reports and insights from across SI’s global advocacy work.

Recent blogs have covered topics including AI for development, Women Deliver 2026, Commonwealth engagement, and updates from SI Representatives in Paris and Geneva. These contributions help share the expertise of Soroptimists and bring visibility to the issues being discussed in international spaces.

Celebrating Clubs Featured in SI Global Advocacy Work

Soroptimist International has recently sent certificates of recognition to Clubs whose projects were featured in SI’s global advocacy work during CSW70.

These certificates acknowledge the local action, expertise and commitment that help bring SI’s global voice to life. We were delighted to receive photos and messages of thanks from clubs, including SI Xanthi Club, whose President and Board members recently visited the Mayor of Xanthi to share news of their certificate.

The certificate recognised their contribution to the Soroptimist Leadership Academy in Kavala, which featured in SI’s advocacy work. Thank you to all Clubs whose projects have helped strengthen SI’s global voice.
