16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign 2026
Each year, Soroptimist International takes part in 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women and Girls, running from 25 November to 10 December and marking:
- International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 November)
- World Human Rights Day (10 December)
For 2026, we’ve built a campaign for Soroptimists worldwide to take part in together. This year we’re turning our attention to online violence against women and girls — the use of digital tools and platforms to harm, control, or silence someone because of their gender. As more of everyday life moves online, so does gender-based violence: image-based abuse, doxxing and stalking, targeted disinformation, biased content moderation, and the non-consensual sharing of images all disproportionately affect women and girls, and the harm doesn’t stop at the screen.
This campaign is a natural extension of our work to end violence against women and girls, because increasingly, that’s where the violence is happening. Across the 16 days, we’re working through five areas: what online violence looks like, doxxing and digital stalking, false and misleading narratives that target women, bias in the automated systems meant to keep people safe, and digital consent and safer platform design. Each one is covered through three post types — a definition, a myth versus fact, and a practical action step — so the series builds into a connected story rather than 16 standalone posts.
