The Dignity Programme - Helping Women in Paraguay move from poverty to independence! 2003

In 2003 SI partnered with the Project for the People of Paraguay (PPP) to address problems of economic disparity through education, vocational training, and job placement for women and families in Paraguay. The Dignity Program was developed to help women succeed by providing ongoing, long-term support to help them enhance their feelings of self-worth and develop a variety of skills to support themselves and their families.

SI donations were used to:

  • Purchase land and build the Dignity House, a safe house for young women in transition and a venue for classes, job training and support groups.
  • Provide tuition, books and materials for 52 women for job training classes.
  • Provide medical, psychological, dental, and legal support for 100 women.
  • Provide funds for small business loans.
  • Purchase 25 acres of land and equipment for agriculture and building refurbishment for the Dignity Village Project
